What is the difference between an automated campaign and a tracking campaign?

Automated campaign

An automated campaign is a campaign that you create based on specific behavior. To create one, you must put yourself in your potential customer’s head and think every step that they can do.

Ex: My company sent an email to a list. If the email bounced, what should I do? When the email is opened, what will be the next step I trigger to help this potential customer (lead) go further? Do I send a thank you note, or a coupon after 7 days? Etc…..

Notes:

  • As a default rule: New Automated Campaigns should always be created for a new email initiative. Even if there are similar campaigns following same automation process. Clone campaigns to make them operate separately - do not reuse by changing the email content and database.
  • Automated Campaigns can be re-used for recurring email initiatives using the same automation structure and email content with a new database.

Tracking campaign

A tracking campaign is a campaign that you create that will track a specific URL or website page that you choose to follow. By tracking that page, you will be able to see all visitors’ behavior on that specific page or form. You can, after analyzing it, do an automated campaign to push further those behaviors to eventually have a conversion.

Ex: A visitor comes to my Get More Info form and fills it. Where does he come from? Who is it? What are the pages he saw before?
